I have had a website owned by Whois.com for fewmonth, billed at a rate of 5.78 per month for that duration. A few days ago, I was emailed by them saying that they were billing me $69.36 dollars. I had no prior notification of this upcoming transaction. They had changed my contract from 5.78 a month to 9.78 dollars a month and then changed me from monthly billing to a year’s worth of internet without emailing me or calling me. The payment had not yet posted to my bank, so I immediately used their customer service email and emailed that I was not notified of the billing changes and that I did not agree to them and to please cancel my service before billing me. I also cancelled recurring billing, doing so before their bill posted to my account. I followed up by trying to call them throughout the day, but no one answered. When I complained they were rude and said that it in my terms, and so I requested a refund as I was withing th 30 Day Refund period. They flatly refused to provide me with a refund saying it was my fault.

At one point, someone did answer and spoke in a foreign language, possibly Germany, which I did not understand. I went to my bank to contest the claim once it posted two days later, and my bank has told me that because I gave pre-authorized permission in the past, that evidently this company can bill me whatever they want in the future and there is nothing I can do about it. I have subsequently discovered that they have started running the same scam on customers starting inFebruary:

Since I am unable to get my money back and since we are in the middle of a crisis where people cannot afford to have such things happening to them, I though I would contact you so that perhaps you can at least try to force this company give notification to its customers when it is going to swindle them. (Or at least respond to someone who is trying to cancel a charge before it occurs.) *ADDITION* I have been trying to log into my Ionos account to retrieve the information you need on the next page, but the website just spins infinitely and will no longer let me log into my account to retrieve any information.

I transferred about 30 domains to Whois.com in December 2019 and February 2020. 2) It came with a web hosting contract that could be canceled at any point in time. 3) I wasn’t using the web hosting so I tried canceling the hosting and further billing on 16th January 2020. 4) I tried cancelations via the website dashboard by entering the credit card details multiple times but it kept on rejecting. So I contacted the customer service VIA chat who informed me that cancellations are disabled from the website and that he will get it done. 5) My card was still charged on 25th January 2020. So I sought a refund. 6) Since then Whois.com representatives have evaded canceling the contracts and are still trying to charge me every time. 7) Sometimes they tell me to update payment details only then will they cancel contracts. 8) I even updated the payment details on their site. They still did not cancel the contracts and kept on charging my card. And everytime I had to raise a request for a refund. 9) Sometimes they processed refunds sometimes they denied. And on every transaction and the subsequent refund, I lose a lot of transaction and conversion fee since my country’s currency in Indian Rupee. 9) It’s complete chaos and they will go back and forth but not cancel the contract. 10) Finally, I had to block my card and order a new one. I also raised a chargeback on one of the transactions. 11) In response they sent me a threatening mail to close the chargeback request in their favor or else they will confiscate my domains. 12) They have already blocked all my domains. I don’t see any domain name in my account. They are rightfully my property but I have no access to them. I have all the proofs on the mails.
